Japanese antique doll of SHOKI the Demon-Queller,
1930's
Finely modeled and rare
Japanese antique figurine
of a Shoki, the Demon-Queller and the Hero of Japanese
poem. Shoki standing and poised in a belligerent stance
one hand clutching his sword (detachable) the other with
open palm as sign of warning. The scabbard of his sword
is on his back. Black lacquered cap covered his head and
His brocade clothes are richly decorated with intricate
ornaments.
This antique doll stands on a carved wooden stand.
Highly collectible item of Japanese art from early Showa
period.
